Helpful Installation Details:

Valve Identification:

Before removing the old trim, determine the valve configuration type.

Make note of how you turn the water ON:

Handle rotates right to left, counter-clockwise =  Type A- Posi-Temp®.

Pull the Handle =  Type B- Moentrol®.

Install new Handle Adapter and Handle based on identified Valve Type:
Select the correct Handle Adapter (see photos, Back of Adapter, to identify the correct Adapter). Slide Stem Washer over Stem.
Valve Type A: Requires Bushing to be installed. Insert Stop into Bushing, then insert Bushing into Sleeve.
Valve Type B: Does not require Bushing to be installed (see photos).

Determine Handle to be used. (Note: Metal Handles do not work with valves that include a diverter.)
For Metal Handle: Place Handle Adapter over Stem, secure with Screw. Place Handle over Adapter, facing downward. Secure with Hex Screw using
an Allen Wrench.
For Plastic (or Acrylic) Handle: Remove Plastic Adapter from inside Handle (for Valve Type A only. Valve Type B: Do not remove Plastic Adapter.)
Place Handle over Stem, pointing downward. Secure with Lock Washer and Screw. Press Index Button into Handle
